Polish Home Association presents a lecture by Maciej Wilczyński “Echoes of Folklore in Polish Classical Music”
The purpose of the lecture is to present and analyze the topic of inspiration of Polish musical folklore in the works of Polish composers of classical music from Romanticism to modern times. The lecture will show and explain the references of folklore in aspects of ethnographic region, dance, song, and ritual in the works of Polish composers from Frederic Chopin to Wojciech Kilar.
Maciej Wilczynski – dancer, arranger, creator of artistic programs on folk themes, and cultural animator. As an arranger, he has been working with the National Song and Dance Ensemble “Silesia” since 2021 as part of the “Zatańcz z Nami” project. He has already created over 50 musical arrangements and stage programs for song and dance ensembles in Poland and abroad. He has conducted more than 40 meetings, courses, and lectures of national and international scope (Great Britain, Belgium, Portugal, Tunisia, South Korea Hankuk Foreign Studies University /online/, Hungary, Lithuania – Vilnius University, Canada). As a dancer and musician, he promoted Polish folklore on the stages of Turkey, Italy, Spain, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, and Mexico. Awarded the “Creative Scholarship of the City of Cracow” in the category of Folk Culture in 2022.
