This year for GiveBIG WA, the Seattle Polish Foundation is asking for your support toward two vital causes: a Medical & Emergency Fund for our aging community members, and a much-needed Stage and Floor Remodeling Project at the historic Polish Home.
For over a century, the Polish Home has served as the cultural heart of our community. As our members grow older, we’ve seen an increased need for emergency assistance—especially with rising healthcare costs. At the same time, our cherished upstairs ballroom, which has hosted countless events, is in urgent need of renovations to its stage, flooring, and outdated lighting and sound systems.
With your generous contribution, you can help us continue supporting the well-being of our elders and preserve the legacy of our shared space for generations to come.
Let’s come together to care for our community—every gift counts, and every donor is appreciated.
The main GiveBIG event starts on May 6, but the fundraiser website is already up and running. To make donations go to the GiveBIG website and select the cause you want to support.
Medical & Emergency Fund
In recent years, we’ve been approached more and more frequently by long-time members of our community in need of help with unexpected medical expenses or funeral costs. The Medical & Emergency Fund will ensure we can offer timely and meaningful support to those who have given so much to our community, especially as they face the challenges of aging and the rising cost of living. Your contribution helps us offer dignity and care when it matters most.
Stage and Floor Remodeling Project
The upstairs ballroom at the Polish Home has been the backdrop of dances, concerts, and cultural celebrations for decades. But time has taken its toll—our stage, flooring, and especially the outdated lighting and sound systems are long overdue for renovation. This project will breathe new life into our beloved space, ensuring it can continue to host unforgettable memories for future generations. With your support, we can restore the ballroom to its full glory.
Seattle Polish Film Festival
Seattle Polish Film Festival brings the best and newest Polish film productions to the Seattle audiences. This year it will have its 33rd edition. The festival is produced by the Seattle Gdynia Sister City Association, and it is prepared by a group of dedicated volunteers that spend countless hours working on its programming, scheduling, and logistics. The whole festival is financed by grants and donations. Please visit the festival’s website: www.polishfilms.org
We are asking for donations that would cover the cost of venue rental. The SIFF Uptown Cinema has been our home for many years, and we hope to stay there for many years to come. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to cover a significant part of the rental fee. Thank you for your generosity, and enjoy the movies!
