New Grand Piano in Basia Strutynski’s Memory

Update: About $33,000 has been raised as of 11/3/2022, so we are getting there! Please donate to the fundraiser, if you haven’t done so yet!
Also, SPF is still matching up to $5,000 in new donations to get the fundraiser to the $35,000 – $40,000 level!

Dear Members and Friends of the Polish Community,

The Seattle Polish Foundation and the Polish Home Association have launched a fundraiser for a new grand piano in memory of Basia Strutynski. We appeal to all Polish community members and friends to support this fundraiser to bring a concert-class instrument to the Polish Home and to honor Basia’s legacy.

A new quality piano is needed to promote Polish culture in Pacific NW. The Polish Cultural Center hasn’t been able to host piano concerts for years, as the current grand piano is of a poor quality even when properly tuned up. Renting or leasing is not practical, so we would like to purchase a high-quality instrument to bring back professional concerts to our community and to the public.

The goal is to raise at least $30,000 for a concert-class grand piano that typically cost around $35k to $40k for a good-quality used instrument (new ones cost $80k-$100k or more). Looking forward, a new piano is a must-have to sustain the mission of the Polish Cultural Center.

You can find more information about this fundraiser in the Piano Fundraiser Q&A.PDF. Please read about Pani Basia’s personal life and contributions to the community here.

Please support our fundraiser for a new grand piano honoring Basia’s memory and legacy!

Sincerely,

Ryszard Kott
