The Grand Piano Is In! Thank You!

The grand piano in memory of Barbara Strutynski has been purchased!

On behalf of the Seattle Polish Foundation and the Polish Home Association I would like to express our deepest gratitude to all people whose generosity made it possible. I have never seen such a swift, widespread, and generous support and such a big outpouring of hearts. So many of you remembered and loved Barbara Strutynski! About two hundred people donated to the cause. Thank you, donors for this exhilarating and heart-uplifting ride!

SPF has purchased the concert-class piano described below and brought it in to the Polish Cultural Center Dom Polski. The piano is now a PHA property to be used there. The campaign has raised enough to cover the purchase price of $60,000 and all the additional costs and we have a few thousand left that we will use to support piano concerts.

We plan a series of piano concerts at the Polish Cultural Center this year with the new piano. The piano is described in detail below. Stay tuned for concert announcements! Please check Polish News website here or the PHA website for news about all events at the Polish Cultural Center.

Thank you again for supporting this fundraiser and honoring Barbara Strutynski’s memory.

The piano is a Steinway & Sons Model B, which is the best grand piano model for medium size concert halls such as the upper hall at the Polish Cultural Center. The Model B is widely used in musical academies such as the Juilliard School and praised by professional pianists. This particular piano has a beautiful sound and is in an excellent shape. It has also been signed by Lang Lang. The piano will have a cover, security lock and a climatization unit installed next week to keep it at a steady temperature at the hall.

Please listen to Marzena testing this instrument (this video clip was shot with a phone).
