Polish Track and Field Stars at the Polish Festival

Polish Track and Field Stars at the Polish Festival
Gold medalist in Tokyo, the mixed 4x400 m relay team: Karol Zalewski, Natalia Kaczmarek, Justyna Święty-Ersetic, Kajetan Duszyński

The representation of Poland for the World Athletics Championship in Eugene, OR, has arrived in Seattle. Apparently, some of the track and field stars plan to drop by to see the Polish Festival at the Seattle Center this Saturday; so if you look around, you may be lucky to spot them! There are also tentative plans to set up a sport booth for autographs and such. If this pans out as expected, look for a booth next to the Mural Amphitheater where the Polish folk groups perform at the festival. The time is TBD at this point.

The representation includes all the biggest stars, including Olympic gold medalists Wojciech Nowicki and Piotr Tamala and world champion Wojciech Fajdek. Unfortunately, the three-time Olympic champion Anita Wodarczyk sustained an injury recently is absent. Among strong contenders are also the 4×400 m relay teams, both the women’s (silver Olympic medalists) and mixed (gold medalists), where Natalia Kaczmarek is the star.

You can find the official list of athletes representing Poland here (in Polish only). Team Poland is 45 athletes strong.

The championship in Oregon runs July 15 to 24, 2022. The athletes are expected to depart Seattle a couple of days before that.
