Garrick Ohlsson Plays Chopin

Garrick Ohlsson Plays Chopin

Garrick Ohlsson, the 1970 winner of the famous Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland (and only American to have taken the top prize), brings Seattle an evening program featuring four Chopin pieces:

  • Impromptu No. 2 in F-sharp Minor, Op. 36
  • Barcarolle in F-sharp Minor, Op. 60
  • Fantasy in F Minor, Op. 49
  • Scherzo No. 3 in C-sharp Minor, Op. 39

as well as pieces by Beethoven, Mamlok, and Schubert.

According to The New York Times, Ohlsson gives “a vigorous, crisp and clear performance without a trace of Romantic excess.”
